Benyalai Library, a division of the Christian Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, was established in 2012 through the vision of Dr. Prayad Phunong-ong, the Foundation's founder. Guided by the belief that "Knowledge, wherever it exists in the world, can create equality in human rights," the Library was founded to ensure that persons with visual impairments have equal access to information and lifelong learning opportunities.
The Library was established with the primary objective of developing an online library system that serves as a comprehensive learning resource for persons with visual impairments. It collects, preserves, and provides accessible information resources in a variety of formats, enabling users to access knowledge without barriers. The Library's services are supported through the collaborative efforts of the Foundation's network of ten regional branches, educational institutions, and partner organizations involved in the production and dissemination of accessible media.
On 30 July 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the official opening ceremony of the Library. On this auspicious occasion, Her Royal Highness bestowed the name "Benyalai Building," meaning "The Building of Comprehensive Knowledge." This royal recognition is regarded as an immeasurable honor and continues to inspire the Foundation's mission of expanding educational opportunities and equitable access to knowledge for persons with visual impairments. It remains a lasting source of pride for the Foundation's personnel and the students it serves.
